His attitude ruined something nice

There's this waiter at a local restaurant who likes me, he may be a server actually because the other day he served me.

The deal is this -- when I go in for takeout, which is often, he seems to walk by me a lot and he tries to get my attention, which honestly he has, because he is adorable. So we smile at each other and say "hi," and things like that.

Well the other day, I was waiting for my car to be washed up the block so to kill time I decided to go eat alone. So there I was and there he was. He wasn't my waiter, but my server. So every time he came to bring me something, it was the perfect opportunity to strike up a conversation, but he did that gay thing that happens in Miami and maybe all over the world -- he gave me attitude -- and I know it was because of his shyness.

I hate when this happens. This perfectly nice moment was ruined by his attitude, which really is not the way he is. He would drop the food off with his nose in the air and run off too fast before I could say anything. Sometimes it's just such an unfriendly world when it doesn't have to be.

perhaps it was the fact he was serving you. that would change the dynamic and possibly trigger shame which would be covered up with tude.

What did you do to over come his shyness?

Anonymous. He got the chance to serve his crush, to get some sort of interaction, that would not trigger shame if anything that would of been something to put a smile on his face. This phenomenon is definitely a Miami thing and it also borders heavily on the hispanic masculinity issue and hetero normative standards. Which by the way has influenced white boys living here a little too much. It's so damn pretentious. Anywho I'm going off on a tangent here.

Are you white or Italian-American and are the two the same thing? I've always wanted to know.
